As of 29 September 2023, Works with Nest (WWN) connections no longer work. You can continue to automate your home through Works with Google Home (WWGH) by creating Routines in the Google Home app's 'Automations' tab or script editor, available now in Public Preview.

Moving to Works with Google Home
If you want to use your Nest devices with WWGH, the script editor, or Amazon Alexa, you must migrate your Nest account to a Google Account. Once completed, migration isn't reversible.
Moving to a Google Account will give you the benefit of a single account, seamless experiences and the ability to align homes and home members across the Nest and Google Home apps. You'll also have access to new features that'll be available with a Google Account, the Google Home app and the WWGH program.
We recommend reading this entire article and the FAQ about accounts for the Nest app before you migrate your Nest account and associated data to a Google Account.
Once you've migrated your account, you'll need to connect your WWGH devices in the Google Home app.
The script editor uses the power of Google intelligence to help you build a personalised smart home ecosystem and make any home automation possible by easily creating and editing scripted automations. To create or edit more advanced automations, the script editor for Google Home (available now in Public Preview) gives you access to the most starters and actions and all traits that Google products and third-party devices support.
Advanced logic such as multiple triggers and Boolean conditions enable you to orchestrate your smart home devices beyond what is currently available in the app. The script editor has more than 100 new features to fit your unique understanding of your home and what you want it to do.
The Google Nest skill for Alexa works with the Google Home app and replaces the WWN skill for Alexa, which was turned off on 29 September 2023. The Google Nest skill lets you control your Nest thermostat and view your Nest camera livestream with Alexa.
The Google Nest skill for Alexa only works with migrated Google Accounts.

The Google Nest skill for Alexa and other partner ecosystem integrations will only work with migrated Google Accounts.

After you migrate to a Google Account, you can explore alternative connections available to you with the WWGH platform.
- Because WWGH functions differently, the way your Nest and third-party smart home products work together will be different.
- All triggered routines of Nest, Google, and partner devices will be set up and managed from the Google Home app using Routines or the consumer script editor.
- Some of your existing devices and connections might not be supported by WWGH. Check your device's app to find out if it works with Google.
One of the most popular WWN features was to automatically trigger routines based on Nest's Home/Away status. WWGH already works with many partners and devices, and integrates seamlessly with Routines. Routines allow anyone to quickly customise how their smart devices work together based on simple triggers – whether you’re leaving home or going to bed.
We've streamlined the migration of existing Nest devices already connected with Google Assistant and the Home app. When migrating your Nest Account, just choose the same Google Account you're using for Google Assistant.
Your Google Assistant and any Nest device connection that you may have set up previously will continue to work as they did before migration. All your existing Nest device names, home and room assignments, and Assistant routines are all retained and will continue after account migration.
If you have enabled data access for any third-party connections, you can choose which data you share with Google Nest partners by using our Partner Connections tool.
If you want to continue receiving doorbell announcements from your Nest Doorbell (wired, 1st Gen) on your Nest speakers and displays, you need to migrate your Nest account to a Google Account. Once you’ve migrated your account, you’ll be able to continue receiving these doorbell announcements.
