Night Vision video quality can be affected by Internet speed and other issues. Night Vision issues are usually caused by infrared light reflecting off nearby surfaces like shelves, windows or walls. Signs include:
- A large light or dark ring in the video
- A part of the video is bright white or washed out (typically on the side of the video)
Here are some fixes that you can try. After each step, check your camera's view in the app to determine if it has improved.
- Clean the lens with a soft cloth that’s made for cleaning optics. Dust, thumbprints and dirt can cause poor image quality.
- Position your camera so that nearby surfaces or objects, such as walls, aren't visible. If you have a Google Nest Doorbell, use the wedge to angle the camera away from nearby objects.
- Use the app to zoom and enhance, and crop out surfaces or objects that may cause glare. Learn how to zoom and enhance Nest camera video.
- If a bright white shape along the edge appears while everything else is too dark, a surface might be too close to your camera's view. Angle your camera so that the surface stays out of view.
- Move objects that may reflect infrared light.
- If you have a Nest Doorbell and a wedge installed, use the app to zoom and enhance to crop out any glare or reflections.
If your camera can't stay connected, refer to Fix Nest camera or doorbell Wi-Fi connection issues.
