Learn about video history

Video history is Nest’s cloud-based video recording and storage service. With a Nest Aware subscription, your Nest camera automatically stores video securely to the Nest cloud so you can access it anytime, anywhere. This means that you don’t need to press record or switch out memory cards for your Nest camera.

Depending on which Nest Aware subscription you have, your camera
can either record event-based video history for up to 60 days
so you only get video clips of important activity your camera detects,
or record 24/7 video history for up to 30 days.

Video history is stored on a rolling basis, so your oldest recorded
video automatically expires to make room for new video.

How we keep your video history secure

  • When your Nest camera is set to private, no one can see your video without your permission.
