Transfer devices to the Google Home app

When you transfer your camera from the Nest app to the Google Home app, you'll be able to view and control that device in the Google Home app with your other Home app devices. Your settings, schedules, and notifications settings will automatically transfer to the Home app.

  • While most features are available in the Home app, some features are only available in the Nest app.
  • If you decide that you don't want your camera in the Home app, you can switch back to the Nest app.

To transfer your legacy camera to the Google Home app, check that you meet the eligibility requirements:

You'll receive reminders that you can transfer a product from the Home app, just tap the notification to start.

If you do not see the notification or you dismissed it, you can also start the transfer in the device settings. When you transfer your device to the Home app, please be aware that:

  • All your new camera history will now be stored and accessible in the Google Home app and on Google Home for web.
  • Any camera history in the Nest app will be accessible until it expires.
  • After you've transferred your device, live video will only be available in the Google Home app and Google Home for web.
