Watch live video stream with the Google Home app

You can watch live video from your Nest cameras and doorbells in the Home app. Select one camera and zoom in for a detailed view or watch video from multiple cameras on the Home app’s favorites tab.

Watch live video for a specific camera or doorbell

Note: Live video is available only for Nest cameras and doorbells that you control with the Home app.

To save power, the live video stream stops automatically:

• Live video from battery-powered Nest cameras and doorbells stops after 5 minutes.
• Live video from wired Nest cameras and doorbells stops after 12 hours.

To start the live stream again, tap Watch live.

From Cameras

1. Open the Google Home app .
2. Tap Cameras to view all your cameras and doorbells, or scroll down and select a specific one.
3. If the camera isn't streaming, tap Turn on. Or you can tap Turn off to manually stop streaming.
4. If your camera is offline, you can tap Retry to reconnect.

From Favorites tab

1. Open the Google Home app .
2. Tap on the camera you want to view.
   • If the camera isn't streaming, tap Turn on. Or you can tap Turn off to manually stop streaming.
   • If your camera is offline, you can tap Retry to reconnect.

Add camera or doorbell to Favorites tab

When you add a camera or doorbell to the Favorites tab in the Home app, you’ll be able to view video on that tab. 

1. On the Favorites tab in the Google Home app , tap Edit .
2. Scroll to the Devices section and tap on the camera or doorbell that you want to favorite. You can select multiple devices at the same time.
3. Click Save. Your camera’s live view will now appear on the favorites tab.

Note: Depending on how frequently you view live feeds, adding battery powered cameras and doorbells to the favorites tab may impact battery life.
