Control restricted content

You can block explicit music and video content from YouTube, Google Play Music, and other music/radio services from playing on Google Home and linked devices. 

 

 

YouTube Music and YouTube video search

Note: YouTube Music is only available in the U.S. and Australia. 

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Scroll to find the device you'd like to edit the YouTube settings of
  3. Tap your device and then Settings and then YouTube Settings.
  4. Next to YouTube Restricted Mode
    1. To block restricted content, slide the slider to the right On.
    2. To allow restricted content, slide the slider to the left Off

YouTube TV

You can allow only programs that are rated YT-Y, YT-G, G and PG. 

Note: YouTube TV is only available in select locations in the U.S.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Scroll to find the device you'd like to edit the YouTube settings of
  3. Tap your device and then Settings and then YouTube Settings.
  4. Next to YouTube Restricted Mode
    1. To block restricted content, slide the slider to the right On.
    2. To allow restricted content, slide the slider to the left Off

Google Play Music

  1. Open the Google Play Music website. Note: You can't adjust this setting on the Google Play Music app. 
  2. In the top left corner of the window, click Settings .
  3. In the "General" section, click the checkbox next to "Block explicit songs in radio."

Note: This will not block Google Play Music premium users from playing a specific explicit song or album.
