What's the best way to track Google Ads conversions for client chat boxes on their site? Is this dependent on the type of chat software they use and has to be worked with on a case by case basis? I'm guessing Google Analytics goals can be used. Any insights appreciated.

The good ones can/do send events to Google Analytics, and the conversion tracking works well. Just make sure you measure actual chats, as the other events can be meaningless from an Ads perspective.

It definitely depends on the chat service being provided, yet most, chat services are able to be integrated with either Google ads or Google Analytics. For instance, my client uses LiveChat on their website to gather lead information. We utilized a Google Analytics event/goal and a script provided by LiveChat. The script was able to classify chats into a few categories; automated greeting, chat, and lead. We were then able to select which event within the chat we'd like to count as a conversion. GA is then able to use the GCLID to pass the conversion information back to Google Ads.

You may refer to 3rd party services in general, However, we refrain from recommending any service, unless by Google or endorsed by Google. And the reason is simple: services by Google have been verified to be compatible with Google's technical requirements, and to comply with and Policy.

Have no idea what you're talking about. I "am asking" in general how to track conversions in chat software that so many of our clients have on their websites. I'm agnostic about, do not use and could care less about any 3rd party branded chat. I'm only trying to figure out how to track conversions from Google Ads that interact with chat software of any brand.
