Disable Google Forwarding Phone Numbers 1 Recommended Answer 7 Replies 47 Upvotes

I work for a bigger company and we always create a new tracking phone number for each new campaign. I realize that the Google forwarding number is not hurting anything, but the higher ups do not like that they are not seeing OUR tracking number on paid ads.

This service is great for smaller businesses, however we do not need it. Is there anyway to disable this feature?

Hi Adam,

Without a doubt you can change this, but you'll lose any call reporting/data from within Ads- just edit your call extensions or call-only ads, and under ‘Call reporting’, select ‘Off’. Then, the only phone number that will be displayed in your ads will be the one that you input, in this case, YOUR tracking phone number.

Hi Tommy,

I've deleted the call extensions in Google Ads in a bid to stop people from seeing different numbers on our site. However, Google's call forwarding is still running and now I can't edit the extension to turn call reporting off. How else can I turn them off or do I have to wait for the cookies to run their course?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply James.

I did actually turn call reporting off but my colleague still had the forwarding number appear on the website for a couple of weeks afterwards. This has now gone - I believe the cookies may have expired.

Thanks,
Andy

Great, thanks for your answer James. I actually got someone from Google France on the phone to check up my account setting and she said that my set up was fine to not display anymore the random tracking phone number. I just have to wait 24 to 72h from now on so i hope it starts displaying my real phone number in the campains.
Thanks for your help

Related to this: I want to turn off call reporting BUT only on my Call Only campaigns -- because my client wants to use their own tracking number on those. But I still want call tracking via the Google Forwarding Number in place on my other Search campaigns. Is there a way to do that?
