[UK] Performance Issues for Shopping Ads As Of 20th August 2021 For UK Merchants

I will update this post when a CM has confirmed when this issue is resolved.

On Friday the 20th, Shopping performance for a lot of UK merchants has dropped a lot.

Please report this to Google Ads support immediately, in your Google Ads account > top right corner > question mark > get help > contact us.

@emmanuel flossie I wanted to tell you in more detail what happened in our accounts (not only in the UK) because we did not experience the impression drop described above. At the same time as your described error, the impressions and clicks have increased immeasurably in our accounts. 
The campaign settings were ignored by the system (especially the campaign priorities) so that our strategy for targeting the ads to the right search queries no longer worked. We spent a lot of money on the wrong search terms. Search terms that we otherwise (outside the 4 day range) never ran in these campaigns and also after the problem was fixed (after publication of the twitter post) no longer trigger our ads.
now we have incurred very high costs and googles service only refers to the fact that there was a massive drop in other merchants accounts and we can clearly see in the data that this has led to the described consequences. 
On request, google does not compensate us for any costs that have arisen due to google's technical error. 

Do you know how best to proceed to achieve compensation or is that hopeless?

I recommend you contact Google Ads directly and present your case. I do agree with you that this situation should be compensated, or at least Google should provide credits for you to use. In the meantime I will ask my CM, what is possible.
