In general, your country and currency determine what payment methods and payment settings are available for your account. A payment method is what you pay with (for example, credit cards or direct debit), and a payment setting is when and how you pay (for example, via automatic payments, manual payments or monthly invoicing). But there may be cases when a payment method or setting that’s normally available for your country or currency becomes temporarily unavailable for your account.
In these cases, the unavailable payment methods or payment settings will be greyed out and unselectable when you’re initially setting up your Google Ads payment information, when you’re making a payment and on your Payment methods page. Unavailable payment settings won’t appear in the drop-down menu on your Billing & payments 'Settings' page.
Unavailable payment methods or payment settings can result from ongoing checks of your account settings and activity, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ve done anything wrong. It’s meant to allow time for a thorough review – a review that helps ensure that your accounts are secure, and in compliance with Google Ads policies.
When you’ll see an update
The payment method or payment setting will generally become available once Google has reviewed and confirmed that your account meets the following requirements:
$200 of payments with an available payment method
- 4 weeks of account activity compliant with Google Ads policies
Note that there may be cases when the process takes longer. You’ll receive an email update when the payment method or payment setting becomes available.

In addition, you can always try applying for quicker access to payment methods or payment settings, if necessary. Completing this application could help expedite the review process, and if appropriate, make the payment method or setting available sooner for your account.
