Edit, remove or download negative keywords

Negative keywords can make your campaigns more focused on what your customers are actually searching for.

This article shows you how to manage your negative keywords by editing, removing and downloading in bulk. Learn more about how to add negative keywords

How to access account-level negative keywords

To access your account-level negative keywords, click on 'Settings', then 'Account settings', 'Negative keywords'.

How to filter negative keywords

 

  1. From the 'Negative keywords' section, click Add filter
  2. Select 'Keyword text' or 'Match type'.
  3. Select relevant options and click Apply.
     

How to edit negative keywords

  1. From the 'Negative keywords' section, hover over a keyword to reveal the pencil icon Edit and click it.
  2. Change the keyword or match type.
  3. Click Save.
     

How to remove negative keywords

  1. From the 'Negative keywords' section, find the keyword that you want to remove and click the box next to it.
  2. Click Remove at the top of the list.
  3. Confirm by clicking Remove again.

How to download negative keywords
 

  1. From the 'Negative keywords' section, click the download icon A picture of the download icon for Google Ads and Merchant Center in the upper right-hand corner.

How to access your negative keywords

To access your negative keywords, click Keywords in the page menu, then click Negative keywords along the top. 

How to edit negative keywords

  1. Place your cursor over the right-hand side of the negative keyword and select the pencil icon Edit.
  2. Edit your negative keyword. To change your negative keyword's match type, use the drop-down menu to select a new match type. 
  3. Click Save.

How to remove your negative keywords

  1. Tick the boxes next to the negative keywords that you'd like to remove. 
  2. Select Remove

How to download your negative keywords

  1. Select the 3-dot icon above the table.
  2. Click the download button A picture of the download icon for Google Ads and Merchant Center.
  3. Choose the download format for your report. You can also email yourself the report or schedule reports to be sent to you.
