About your Google Ads time zone setting

The time zone setting in your Google Ads account is crucial for accurate reporting, campaign scheduling, and billing. It determines how your campaign data is recorded and presented.

This article explains how to manage your time zone settings, the consequences of creating a new account to update your time zone, and what account features are affected by this selection.

How to change your time zone

Time zone changes are no longer supported in standard serving accounts. If you need to manage your ads in a different time zone, you must create a new account.

  1. Create a new account.
  2. Fill in your account info and set your desired time zone on the “Billing” page.

Manager accounts: Google can reset your time zone in a manager account only once. Requests to change time zones must come from an Admin user, and your time zone may be shifted only eastward, for example, from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) to India Standard Time (IST). If your time zone has already been reset once at your request, it can’t be changed again.

Considerations around changing a time zone

  • Historical data: When campaigns are copied into a new account, historical data won’t be transferred. Your new account will begin tracking performance from the date the campaigns are launched.
  • Time zone increments: All time zones must be in full hour or half-hour increments relative to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). If your local time zone is one of the few offset a quarter-hour from GMT, the Google Ads system can't support your time zone and you'll need to choose a different one.

Impact on account settings and reporting

  • What is affected (Reporting): Your reports and statistics are affected by the time zone you select. For example, reports that you segment by time will generate results according to your account time zone.
  • What is not affected (Billing displays): While you can choose your account time zone, all items on your billing pages only show in Pacific Standard Time (PST).
  • What is not affected (Ad locations): Your time zone selection affects only the administration of your account, it doesn't affect the locations where your ad may show.
