Considerations for video uploads
- Currently, video files uploaded through the mobile app are saved as drafts. You will need to access Google Ads on a desktop computer to complete the upload process to YouTube.
- If your upload includes a mix of images and videos, videos will automatically be uploaded to the root level of the asset library, even if you've selected a specific folder for images. An alert will inform you of this.
- If you are only uploading video files, the option to select a folder will not be presented.
Organize and manage assets
The asset library offers robust tools to help you keep your creative content well-organized and easily accessible.
Folder support
You can create and utilize folders to categorize your assets, enhancing your organization. The mobile app supports up to 100 folders, sorted by last updated. If you have more than 100 folders, you will be prompted to use the desktop/web experience to access them.
- Creating folders: Create new folders, including sub-folders, directly within the mobile app.
- Renaming assets and folders: Easily rename your existing assets and folders within the mobile app for better identification.
Supported operations
- Remove: You can hide assets from your asset library views (both the standalone view and the Media Picker). This action does not affect asset serving. All asset types except house channel YouTube videos can be removed.
- Delete (house channel YouTube videos only): For videos uploaded to a Google-owned private YouTube channel, you have the option to permanently delete them from YouTube. This action impacts serving and cannot be undone. This option is only available for house channel videos.
Filtering and searching
To quickly locate specific assets, leverage the filtering and search capabilities within the asset library. You can apply one or more filters either globally across your entire library or within a specific folder.
- Filter options include:
- Asset name
- Asset ID
- Asset type
- Duration (video only)
- Width (image only)
- Height (image only)
- Top-level asset review status
- Status (such as, Drafts)
Adding existing YouTube videos
You can easily add an existing YouTube video to your asset library by entering its URL, video ID, or by searching for keywords or channels. Note that YouTube videos cannot be added to folders and will always appear at the root level of your asset library.
Viewing assets
Within the standalone view of the asset library, you can choose between a visual card view (default) or a table view. Both views provide a visual preview of each asset. Tapping on an individual asset will provide a larger preview and detailed metadata, including:
- Name
- Dimensions
- Type
- Duration (video only)
- Character length (text only)
- Asset ID
- Top-level asset review status
- Status (such as, Drafts)
Use assets to construct and edit asset groups, ads, and extensions
The Media Picker is a key component within Google Ads that allows you to efficiently find and select your media assets during the creative construction process for asset groups, ads, and other creative entities.
Accessing assets in Media Picker
The Google Ads mobile app's Media Picker features "Upload," "asset library," and "Scan Website" tabs. The "asset library" tab will display all enabled assets relevant to the input field of the creative you are currently building.
- Video support: When adding videos to your creative, the "asset library" tab will show all enabled YouTube video assets. Draft video assets will not be visible here.
- Text support: When adding text to your creative, the "asset library" tab will display all enabled text assets.
- Filtering/search capabilities in Media Picker: You can filter or search for your assets within the "asset library" tab of the Media Picker using supported asset metadata (for example, asset name).
Considerations around feature
Connectivity requirement
An active internet connection is required to access and utilize the features of the asset library in the Google Ads mobile app. The app will respect your device's settings regarding cellular data access. If there is no internet connection, you will receive a message prompting you to check your connection.
Change History implications
All changes made within the asset library through the Google Ads mobile app will be logged in your account's Change History, with "Google Ads mobile app" listed as the tool used. This includes actions such as asset creation/import, asset removal, asset name changes, folder creation, and folder name changes.
