About the Google TV network in Google Ads

The Google TV (GTV) network is a media-streaming platform that powers smart televisions, over-the-top devices, and set-top-boxes. GTV allows users to stream TV shows, movies, and other video content from their favorite apps. You can show your video ads on the Google TV masthead or in the eligible video-streaming apps available with GTV.

Note: The Google TV network is only available for campaigns running in the United States. If you have an existing campaign that currently serves on Google TV via Google Video Partner network, that campaign will auto opt-into the Google TV network starting October 16, 2023.

Benefits of Google TV instream Ads

Google TV instream ads bring extra reach on premium, linear TV content at efficient cost-per-thousand-impression (CPM) bids via auction.

  • Extend digital video ads to the big screen on 1P and 3P content.
  • Leverage Google’s existing personalized targeting capabilities and measurement tools to maximize campaign efficiency.

How ads on Google TV works

Your ads are shown within Google TV instream ads inventory which is a combination of inventory from Google TV channels and Google-owned inventory in popular partner apps.

You can add audience segment targeting to the ad groups of your campaign based on your target segment’s interest, habits, and preferences. Google TV network also supports location targeting, however, as Google TV instream inventory is only available within the U.S., be sure to select or exclude locations within the U.S. only.

To show your video ads on Google TV network, you must not:

  • Select any device to target except TV.

Google Ads supports ads serving on Google TV by default for new campaigns with "Efficient reach" or "Non-skippable" campaigns as subtypes.
