If you need to measure clicks on buttons or links, or you want to customize your event tag with value tracking, transaction IDs, or other custom parameters, you can set up conversions manually.
Step 1 of 3: Connect your website data source
- Go to Summary within the Goals
menu.
- Select + Create conversion action.
- Choose Conversions on a website.
- Enter your website URL and select Scan.
- Follow the prompts to link an existing Google Analytics 4 property or set up a Google tag on your site.
- Select Done.
Step 2 of 3: Create your conversion action
- After connecting your data source, select Continue.
- Select a conversion category.
- Click + Add conversion actions and choose a data source.
- Select Setup manually using code and you’ll receive instructions to implement the snippet.
- If you want to adjust any of the conversion settings, select Conversion settings.
- Select Done.
- Select Save and continue.
If you linked a Google Analytics property in the previous step, you can also create conversions using your Google Analytics events. Learn more about how to Set up your web conversions.
Step 3 of 3: Next steps
- View the conversion categories you created and update any of the settings as needed.
- Select Agree and finish.
- Verify your setup:
- Confirm your Google tag is correctly installed on your website.
- Check the "Status" column in your conversion actions table to ensure your new conversion action is recording data. To do this, go to Summary within the Goals
menu.
