About proofread with Gboard

With proofread with Gboard, you can check and correct any typed, pasted, or voice dictated text in your text box for writing errors like typos, grammar, and punctuation.

  • To get started, in the pop-up, tap Continue. If you tap “No thanks” you won't be able to get correction suggestions.

  • Pixel 8 or 8 Pro
  • English only

Use proofread with Gboard

Use Fix it

Important: If you’re using Fix it for the first time, in the pop-up, tap Continue. You can use Fix it on most apps.

  1. On your device, open the app where you'll input your text.
  2. Enter your text.
  3. If proofreading errors are found, Fix it will give suggestions. Tap Fix it to apply the corrections to your text.
  4. Optional: To remove the correction, tap Undo.
  5. If more proofreading suggestions are available, tap Fix it and then More fixes.
On Gboard's menu bar, you can also proofread your text when you tap Proofread proofread.
Turn off Fix it button
  1. Go to Gboard Settings.
  2. Tap Text correction and then Spelling and Grammar and then Proofread.
  3. Turn Proofread off.
