How do I use Health Connect in the Fitbit app?

What is Health Connect?

Health Connect allows you to manage your health, fitness, and wellness data on your Android phone in one place, by giving you a simple way to connect and sync your favorite health and fitness apps, including Fitbit. Health Connect securely stores your health and fitness data on your phone and gives you full control over which apps can access it and for how long. Add Health Connect to the Fitbit app to see an overview of data from all your connected apps and devices within the Fitbit app.

How do I set up Health Connect in the Fitbit app?

Requirements

  • You must use the Fitbit app on an Android phone running Android 9 or higher.
  • You must sign in to the Fitbit app using an adult Google account.

Instructions

  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon .
  2. In the Add connections section, tap Set up Health Connect.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up Health Connect and choose what data to allow Fitbit to access. 

Where do I view data from Health Connect in the Fitbit app?

  1. From the You tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the Health Connect tile.
  2. Tap a tile to see more information and past data. Note that when you connect Health Connect, 30 days of historical third-party data from Health Connect imports into the Fitbit app when you allow Fitbit to access data from Health Connect.

What data from Health Connect syncs to the Today tab in the Fitbit app?

The following stats from Health Connect can be viewed from the Today tab :
  • Steps
  • Calories
  • Distance traveled
  • Floors climbed
  • Exercise metrics

To adjust whether data from Health Connect or Fitbit data is included in the Today tab:

  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon .
  2. In the Apps section, tap Health Connect.
  3. Tap the Settings icon  in the top right.
  4. Tap Health Connect on Today and choose whether you want data from Health Connect or Fitbit data to display on the Today tab.

Note that turning on this option can cause your Today tab to no longer match the data you see on your Fitbit device if you also sync third-party devices to Health Connect. For more information, see Why don't my stats match between Health Connect, the Today tab, and my Fitbit device?

How do I disconnect Health Connect from the Fitbit app?

  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon .
  2. In the Apps section, tap Health Connect.
  3. Tap the Settings icon  in the top right.
  4. Tap Disconnect Health Connect and follow the on-screen instructions.

Why don't my stats match between Health Connect, the Today tab, and my Fitbit device?

You might notice your fitness data displays differently if you sync Fitbit and third-party apps with Health Connect.
  • Fitbit device: Your Fitbit device doesn't include data from Health Connect. If you connect Health Connect with other apps and devices, the data isn't reflected on your Fitbit device.
  • You tab : The Health Connect tile in the Fitbit app displays the sum of your Fitbit data and data from other devices and apps you have connected to Health Connect.
  • Today tab : You can choose whether some metrics on the Today tab display data from Health Connect or not. For instructions, see What data from Health Connect syncs to the Today tab in the Fitbit app?

For example, if you tracked 5,000 steps with a third-party device connected to Health Connect, then swapped to your Fitbit device and walked an additional 2,000 steps, your Fitbit device would show 2,000 steps, the Health Connect tile in the You tab would show 7,000 steps, and the Today tab either show 2,000 steps or 7,000 steps depending on the option you chose in What data from Health Connect syncs to the Today tab in the Fitbit app?

Can I see data from Health Connect on my Fitbit device?

No, Health Connect data from third-party devices doesn't sync to your Fitbit device.

Do Fitbit badges use data from Health Connect?

No, you won't receive Fitbit badges from Health Connect data pulled from other devices or apps.

Do Fitbit leaderboards use data from Health Connect?

No, data from Health Connect is not reflected in your leaderboard.

Can I see data from Health Connect in my weekly progress report email?

No, data from Health Connect is not reflected in your weekly progress report email.

Why isn't my data from Health Connect updating?

If your data from Health Connect doesn't appear in the Fitbit app after following the instructions in How do I set up Health Connect in the Fitbit app?, make sure Fitbit has sufficient read and write permission to access data from Health Connect:
  1. From the Today tab  in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon .
  2. In the Apps section, tap Health Connect.
  3. Tap the Settings icon  in the top right.
  4. Tap Manage data & access  App permissions.
  5. In the Allowed access section, tap Fitbit. Make sure the data you want to sync is turned on in both the Allowed to read and Allowed to write sections.

Note: If your data still isn't updating as expected, make sure to review your settings within your connected third-party devices and apps and allow access to data from Health Connect.

Can I export my data from Health Connect?
