Link DoubleClick to Firebase

If you or the advertising agency you're working with would like to use DoubleClick Bid Manager (DBM) or DoubleClick Campaign Manager (DCM) to track in-app events measured in Firebase as conversions (e.g., app_update or in_app_purchase), you can send an account-link request from a DoubleClick account to your Firebase project. Once linked, these Firebase events are treated as any other conversions for ads run on DoubleClick Digital Marketing (DDM), and you can use them in attribution and/or bid optimization. For DDM-attributed conversions, some campaign-specific information is returned back to Firebase for use in Analytics reporting.

The link between DDM and Firebase can be initiated by users of either DBM or DCM.

At a high level, the linking process consists of the following steps:

Step 1: An advertiser initiates the linking in DBM (if they don't use DCM) or in DCM, which results in a notification email being sent to the project owners in Firebase.

Step 2: The developer reviews the link request in the Firebase console and approves the request.

Once the link is approved, advertisers in DoubleClick Digital Marketing can attribute conversions back to ads run on DDM.

You can remove a linked account at any time. If a linked account is removed, DoubleClick tracking for apps from the linked Firebase project is disabled.

Enable events as conversions in Firebase

All app events that you want to track in DoubleClick must be enabled as conversions. Learn more about events in Firebase.

Request a link to a Firebase project from DoubleClick

  1. Sign into DBM or DCM.
  2. Navigate to: Advertiser and then Basic Details (DBM) or Advertiser and then Floodlight Configuration (DCM).
  3. In the Firebase section, add the Firebase project ID and click Save to send an account-link request.

Accept a link request in the Firebase console

After a DoubleClick administrator requests to link a DoubleClick Digital Marketing account to your Firebase project, you'll receive an email notification. Note that only the Firebase project owners are invited to accept the link request.

As a Firebase project owner, you can also review requests on the Firebase console Project Settings page.

  1. Sign in to Firebase and select the project.
  2. Click the Settings icon and select Project Settings.
  3. On the Project Settings page, click the Integrations tab.
  4. On the DoubleClick card, click Manage.
  5. Click Reply on the pending request and accept the request.

The completed link in DBM and DCM

After the link request is accepted in the Firebase console, app events enabled as conversions in Firebase will populate automatically in DBM or DCM. App Store ID must be added to your app in Firebase's general settings for iOS events to populate.

  • If the link originated from DBM, pixels will be automatically generated in your advertiser's pixels.
    • These pixels can be enabled for remarketing, but it isn't done automatically.
  • If the link originated from DCM, Floodlights will be automatically generated in your Floodlight activities.
    • Audience lists can be created from these Floodlight events, but they aren't created automatically.

Unlink DoubleClick accounts from Firebase
