Can not opening safe folder , needs to install security update popup showing

Trying to open safe folder since one hour but it showing can't open

Hi Users,
The backend team is migrating a security update w.r.t Safe Folder.
This runs in the background once a user upgrades their app and most users do not see this message because this is done automatically. 
But coincidentally, if a user opens it during the migration, then they see this.

At this point of time, there is no user action which is needed.
Just wait and refresh/reopen the app after some time.

Hi

Go to the Google Play Store > Profile Icon > Manage apps & device > Manage > and install any updates.

Then go back to the Files app > Safe folder and enter the PIN or password to access the contents.

I installed this app on my tablet, and made a new safe folder on that app. This did not give the error. On my Pixel 7, I still have this error. So this indicates that there must have been an issue with people who updated the app and had an existing safe folder.

SCRATCH MY LAST POST! THE FILES ARE NOW ACCESSIBLE! I am so relieved. I guess all we had to do was wait after all

 - the issue was opened around  
Aug 29, 2023 - two months ago -
 right , because google engineers work overtime on weekends  so that we could all access our "safety" folder  - excuse my sarcasm -i think it could have something to do with a "syncing" glitch - just today i noticed a failed upload to gdrive initiated three days ago, not that gdrive sync storage was linked to any of my stored files, but who knows how many background tasks google has running on our phones besides the ones we're made aware of - go 2  apps - force stop the app  then clear cache - relaunch app  , maybe a restart to make sure all services relaunch - i suppose one could also debug the issue  but that would require knowledge & patience and a lot of docs reading _google would actually help with that, i can vouch for that much !

Can you give some suggestions? How were you able to access safe folder again? How much data was there in your safe folder?

Hello,
Welcome to Files by Google Community Forum,
There is no user action is needed to fix it
Try this troubleshooting step:
Some updates needs to connect wifi to complete
Open your Files app
Connect it to a wifi network which has internet access
keep connected to wifi for sometime it will update instantly.
If it didn't keep trying or wait it will be fixed in sometime automatically.
Personally I just tried it and it worked for me.

Hello Google Team,
I got this issue yesterday and the intetnal storage of my phone got full (I had ca 10GB free before the update started). I have secure folder on a micro SD card inserted in my phone and encrypted files take ca 30 GB. When I tried to access the secure folder in Files I got a message I need to free up 22 GB! I succeeded to free up ca 12 GB and they got full quite fast by Files' data during this update. I cannot free up 10GB more as Files requires and it seems the process is stuck. Please help 🙏
