Cannot upload personal media with Windows XP

If you are using Windows XP and your computer does not list GFIBERSTORAGE as one of your network neighbors when you try to upload personal media, check the following settings on your computer:

Enable file and printer sharing and Netbios on the network connection:

  1. On the Start menu, select Fiber Settings and then Network Connections.

  2. Click the connected network connections.

  3. Click Properties.

  4. Make sure File and Printer Sharing is selected.

  5. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

  6. Click Advanced.

  7. Click WINS.

  8. Select Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

Make sure the Windows firewall allows file and printer sharing:

  1. On the Start menu, select Fiber Settings and then Control Panel.

  2. Click Windows Firewall.

  3. Click Exceptions.

  4. Select File and Printer Sharing.

Ensure that the Computer Browser service is started:

  1. On the Start menu, select Settings and then Control Panel.

  2. Click Administrative Tools.

  3. Click Services.

  4. Ensure that the Computer Browser service is started.

Open My Network Places, press F5 to refresh the list, and check if the three GFIBERSTORAGE shares appear on the list.
