Manage recording priorities

Fiber provides eight separate TV streams, which you can use to record eight shows at once or combined to record and watch eight separate shows. If you try to change the channel when all eight streams are in use, a message prompts you to resolve the conflict. You can opt to change the channel and not record one of the scheduled recordings, or you can select Don't do anything, in which case you cannot change the channel. You can, however, watch any of the shows that are currently being recorded without using an additional stream.

For example, if you have nine shows scheduled to record at the same time (which can happen if you schedule a number of Smart Recordings), the eight shows with the highest priority are recorded. The show with the lowest priority (show number nine, in this example) is not recorded.

Generally, you do not need to manage priorities in this way. You can just resolve conflicts as they occur, which is a much simpler process since the system alerts you when they arise.

To change the order of priorities of your scheduled recordings:

  1. Press on the remote control, and select DVR from the menu.

  2. On the DVR menu at the bottom of the screen, select Manage, and then select Recording Manager.

This screen displays a list of all scheduled recordings and the number of episodes scheduled to be recorded for each.

  3. Select Edit Priorities.

The screen changes to edit mode.

  4. Press the right arrow to highlight an item on the list.

  5. Press the up or down arrows to navigate to the item whose priority you want to change, and press ok to select it.

The item is highlighted to indicate that it is the active item.

  6. Using the up and down arrows on the remote control, move the item up or down to change its priority.

  7. When the item is where you want it in the priority list, press ok to complete the change.

  8. Repeat steps 5-7 for each show you want to move in the priority list.

  9. When you finish, select Done.
