Browse on-demand content

When you select On Demand on the main menu, the On Demand screen appears with the Recommendations tab displayed. Recommendations are based on your recording, searching, and viewing history.

The On Demand menu at the bottom of the screen allows you to select from a number of options that filter the content into different categories. On most of these screens, you can sort the content by clicking one of the icons at the top:

  •   Display shows in chronological order, based on when they were added to the video on demand collection, not by release date. (This is the default setting.)

  •   Display shows in alphabetical order. If a lot of shows are listed, you can select to display an alphabet bar. As you press the right-arrow button on the remote, the shows that begin with the highlighted letter appear. Select the first letter of the show you want to find. Press ok or the down-arrow to hide the alphabet bar.

The following sections describe each option on this menu.

Genres

The Genres screen allows you to filter the content by genre—everything from drama to comedy to horror to health and fitness to musical theater and many more. Or you can select Top TV Shows or Top Movies to browse through the most-watched TV shows or movies on Google Fiber TV.

Select the type of content you want to browse from the menu at the bottom. The content of the selected type appears.

At the top of the screen, you can select All to show all titles in the selected genre, or select TV or Movie from the All drop-down list to show only TV titles or only movie titles. You can select Free & Pay to show both free and rental content, or select Pay or Free from the Free & Pay drop-down list to view only rentals or only free titles.

To watch one of the titles listed, simply navigate to and select it. The Detailed Info screen displays information about the selected show. If there is a fee for renting the show, select Rent Now for $, confirm your purchase, and then select Play Now to watch the show anytime during the rental period (24-48 hours). If there is no fee for the show, simply select Play Now to watch it now.

Movies

The Movies screen lists all of the movies available through video on demand.

To watch one of the movies listed, simply navigate to and select it. The Detailed Info screen displays information about the selected show. If there is a fee for renting the movie, select Rent Now for $, confirm your purchase, and then select Play Now to watch the movie anytime during the rental period (24-48 hours). If there is no fee for the movie, simply select Play Now to watch it now.

TV Shows

The TV Shows screen lists all of the TV shows available through video on demand.

To watch one of the TV shows listed, simply navigate to and select it. If you select a show that is not part of a series, the Detailed Info screen displays information about the selected show. If there is a fee for renting the show, select Rent Now for $, confirm your purchase, and then select Play Now to watch the show anytime during the rental period (24-48 hours). If there is no fee for the show, select Play Now to watch it now.

If you select a TV series, its Detailed Info screen provides information about the show and lists the available episodes. You can sort the list by the date it originally aired by selecting Original Date at the top of the list. Select an episode on the list to display a description of that episode. Then select Rent Now for $ or Play Now as described above.

By Network

The By Network screen displays all of the networks that provide video on demand content. For example, if you want to watch a show from ESPN, you can look for ESPN on the By Network screen.

Select a network to display a list of the video on demand content available from that network. Then select the show you want to watch. The Detailed Info screen displays information about the show. If there is a fee for renting the show, select Rent Now for $, confirm your purchase, and then select Play Now to watch the show anytime during the rental period (24-48 hours). If there is no fee for the show, select Play Now to watch it now.

Rentals

The Rentals screen displays any video on demand content that you have rented and still have watch time left.

To watch one of the shows listed, simply navigate to and select it. The Detailed Info screen displays information about the show. Select Play Now to watch the show now. (Any fees have already been charged for shows listed on this screen.)

If you started watching a rented show and stopped before the end, when you select Play Now, a menu prompts you to select where you want to start watching. Select Resume Playback or Start from the Beginning, based on your preference.

The Rentals option appears on the menu only if you happen to have rentals available at the moment—that is, if you still have time left to watch a 24-hour or 48-hour rented show. If you do not see the Rentals options, it indicates that you do not have any rentals available.
