Wi-Fi 6 router upgrade for Network Box customers

As a 1 Gig Network Box customer, you are eligible to upgrade your router to a Wi-Fi 6 router for use at no extra cost.¹

Are you a 1 Gig Google Fiber customer that is still using a Network Box router from Google Fiber? You’re eligible to upgrade to the Google Fiber Wi-Fi 6 router at no extra cost.¹ The Google Fiber Wi-Fi 6 Router can give customers faster wireless connections in their homes for Wi-Fi 6 compatible devices, more support for more Wi-Fi compatible devices and less Wi-Fi congestion – when compared to their Network Box.²

Ready to request your upgrade? Order a self-install kit on your Google Fiber account.

1. Customers canceling service will have to pay a replacement fee (including any applicable taxes) if they fail to return equipment within 60 days after cancellation.

What is the Wi-Fi 6 equipment upgrade?

The Wi-Fi 6 Router gives Fiber customers access to faster wireless connections in their homes for Wi-Fi 6 compatible devices, more support for Wi-Fi compatible devices and less Wi-Fi congestion, when compared to the Network Box.²

This upgrade will help customers move off the older Network Box to a more up-to-date router.

Who needs to get their Wi-Fi 6 router professionally installed?

While most customers with Network Boxes can upgrade using a self-install kit, some of our customers have an older, first-generation Fiber Jack that needs to be replaced before they can make the change. If you are one of those customers, contact us and we will schedule an appointment for an install specialist to come to your home, upgrade your Fiber Jack and set up your Wi-Fi 6 router at the same time.

Not sure if you are eligible for the upgrade?

Not all customers with a Network Box are eligible for this upgrade. We’ll send an email or portal notification to notify eligible customers by late July 2023. If you’re not sure if you are eligible, you can log into your Google Fiber account to confirm if the upgrade is available for your Network Box.

Why should I switch from the Network Box?

The Network Box was originally created years ago to offer solid, reliable wireless connections for all types of devices in customers’ homes.

The Google Fiber Wi-Fi 6 Router meets the needs of many customers today: it provides Wi-Fi 6 to connect at higher speeds for Wi-Fi 6 compatible devices (which many new phones and laptops are).²

As we update equipment for our customers to Wi-Fi 6, we are discontinuing support for the Network Box.
