About the Wi-Fi 6 Router upgrade for Network Box customers

Most customers with a Network Box are now eligible to upgrade to our Wi-Fi 6 Router at no extra cost.¹

Are you a 1 Gig (or lower speed) GFiber customer who is using a Network Box from GFiber? If so, you’re eligible to upgrade to the Google Fiber Wi-Fi 6 Router at no extra cost!¹ The Wi-Fi 6 Router can provide a faster wireless connection in your home for Wi-Fi 6 compatible devices and less Wi-Fi congestion when compared to your Network Box.²

Ready to request your upgrade? Soon you'll be able to request one right from your account; until then, chat with us and we'll send you a Wi-Fi 6 self-install kit.

1. GFiber residential customers who have the Free/Basic Plan or who have a pre-installed Network Box, and GFiber business customers, aren’t eligible for this upgrade. Customers who cancel their service will have to pay a replacement fee (including any applicable taxes) if they fail to return equipment within 60 days after cancellation. Network Boxes may be responsibly recycled, and customers won’t be charged a replacement fee if they do not return the Network Box to GFiber.

2. According to an industry-wide study, there is an average speed increase with Wi-Fi 6 when used with a compatible Wi-Fi 6 router and devices. Upload/download speed and device streaming claims are based on maximum wired speeds. Actual internet, Wi-Fi speeds, and Wi-Fi coverage are not guaranteed and can vary based on factors such as your home or business’ size and layout, construction materials, hardware and software limitations, latency, packet loss, etc.

While most customers with Network Boxes can upgrade using a self-install kit, some of our customers have an older, first-generation Fiber Jack that needs to be replaced before they can make the change.
If you are eligible for the Wi-Fi 6 upgrade but your Fiber Jack looks like the one below, please contact us and we'll schedule an appointment for a specialist to come to your home, upgrade your Fiber Jack, and set up your Wi-Fi 6 Router at the same time.

Why should I switch to the Wi-Fi 6 Router?

The Network Box was created years ago to offer solid and reliable wireless internet connections for all types of devices in customers’ homes.

The Wi-Fi 6 Router features more modern technology that meets the changing needs of many customers today by allowing Wi-Fi 6 compatible devices to connect at higher speeds. (Many new phones and laptops are Wi-Fi 6 compatible these days.)²
