If you have a new Google Fi phone, or you'd simply like to use a different one, you can add it to your Google Fi account. Once you do, you'll continue to have service on your new phone and keep the same phone number.
Your previous phone will still appear on your account as an inactive device. You can keep using it with a data-only SIM.
Add a phone
- Insert your Google Fi SIM card into your new Google Fi phone (on Pixel 2 and up, you can skip this step).
- When asked, sign in with the Google Account you used to sign up for Google Fi.
- Follow the on-screen steps to activate service on your phone.
Change your phone number
You can change your phone number after you’ve started using Google Fi. Keep in mind that some area codes are in high demand, so if you change your number we can’t guarantee that you’ll get the same area code.
Important:
- After you change your number, your old number is deactivated and made available for reassignment. This means a new user can receive your old number in the future.
- If you want to keep your number, you can transfer it to another Google Fi account or to a different carrier.
- You don’t pay any fees when you change your Google Fi number.
- To ensure a smooth transition of your services to a new number, we require accounts to have zero balance. If you have any outstanding balances, make a payment to proceed to change your number.
