Control airplane mode & other network settings

You can control airplane mode, NFC, tethering, and other network and internet settings for your Android phone or tablet.

Note: Some of these steps work only on Android 8.0 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.

Change a network or internet setting

  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
  2. Tap Network & Internet.
  3. Tap the setting you want to change.

Wi-Fi

To use Wi-Fi the way you want, you can change how and when your device connects.

Mobile network

You can change how your device uses mobile data. This can include data, data roaming, and preferred networks. We recommend checking with your mobile carrier about fees and other details.

Data usage is how much data your device uploads or downloads using mobile data. To make sure that you're not using too much data on your data plan, you can check and change your data usage.

Hotspot & tethering

You can share your device’s mobile data connection with other computers, phones, or tablets via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB tethering and portable hotspots.

Airplane mode

You can turn off Wi-Fi, mobile networks, and Bluetooth with Airplane mode.

To turn Airplane mode on or off:

  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
  2. Tap Network & Internet.
  3. Turn Airplane mode on or off.

Network settings reset

To reset all your network settings:

  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
  2. Tap Network & Internet.
  3. Tap More More and then Network settings reset.
  4. At the bottom, tap Reset settings.
