In this example, we'll walk you through a very simple but common way to deploy Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals and highlight the setup steps you'll want to plan for
Note: When you choose a domain to use for your Education Fundamentals application, you can sign up for a Google Workspace Account (1st step). The chosen domain cannot be changed.
Sign-up process for K–12 or higher institutions
- If you already signed up your domain for Google Workspace and want to upgrade to Education Fundamentals, sign in to your Google Workspace admin account and request an upgrade for approval. See Education Fundamentals: Upgrade request.
- If you do not have a Google Workspace account, go to the Education Fundamentals signup form.
- Complete the form.
Note: You’ll use this information to sign in to your Education Fundamentals account. - Review the Education Fundamentals agreement, check the box to agree to the terms, and click Accept and sign up.
You get an email that includes information about your new account.
If you signed up for Google Workspace with a domain that you’re already using, you need to verify your domain before we can review your application. This verification process ensures that no one can use services or send email that appears to come from your school.

Sign in to your Google Admin console.
Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).
- Verify that you own your domain. For details, see Verify your domain for Google Workspace.
After you submit your request and verify your domain, we review your organization’s eligibility. We contact you by email about the status of your application in 1–2 weeks.
