Mention classmates in your posts
If you want to catch someone’s attention when you send a post in Classroom, use ‘+’ or ‘@’ with the person’s email to mention them. You can ‘+’ or ‘@’ mention classmates or your teacher, or both, in comments or replies in the class stream to invite them to join a discussion or to see your message.
When you mention someone in your comment or reply using the ‘+’ or ‘@’ sign, the person you mentioned receives an email if they have notifications set up in their account settings.
Note: ‘+’ or ‘@’ mention only work in the class stream.
Sign in to Classroom with your Google Account.

- Enter a message in the Add class comment box or, if you’re creating a new post, in the Share with your class box.
- Enter + or @ and, as you are typing the person's name, an autocomplete list of classmates appears.
- To choose the first name, press Enter and the email address is added to the field.
To choose a different name, scroll down the list to select a name and press Enter.
- Click Post.
Note: If you don't see the name you want in the auto-complete list type in the full email address.
