Post to the Stream page

You can share information and questions with your teachers and classmates in the class stream using posts and comments. 
  • A post is a question or information you add to the class stream. 
  • A comment is a reply to someone else’s post or comment.

Everyone in the class can see posts and comments but only a teacher can see deleted posts. A teacher can delete posts.

Note: You can’t post if a teacher turned off permissions to post.

Ways to post on the Stream page

  • You write a post in the class stream to share with your class—teacher and classmates.
  • Reply to a post or comment. Comments are visible to the entire class.

Create a post

My class has the Classwork page

  1. Tap Classroom Classroom.
  2. Tap the class.
  3. On the Stream page, tap Share with your class.

    Note: If you don’t see Share with your class, a teacher turned off permissions to post.

  4. Enter your message and tap Post Post.

My class doesn't have the Classwork page

  1. Tap Classroom Classroom.
  2. Tap the class.
  3. On the Stream page, tap Add Add.

    Note: If you don’t see Add Add, a teacher turned off permissions to post.

  4. Enter your message and tap Post Post.
Add an image, file, video, or link to your post

You can attach items to your post, such as images, files, Google Drive items, YouTube videos, or links.

  1. Tap Classroom Classroom.
  2. Tap the class.
  3. Choose an option:
    • For classes with the Classwork page, tap Share with your class.
    • For classes without the Classwork page, tap Add Add.

      Note: If you don’t see Share with your class or Add Add, a teacher turned off permissions to post.

  4. Tap Attach Attach.

    1. Tap Drive Drive and then tap the item.
    2. Tap Select.

    1. Tap Link Link and enter the URL.
    2. Tap Add.
    Upload File
    1. Tap Upload Upload.
    2. Tap the item.
    Take photo Take a photo
    1. Tap Camera Take photo and take the photo.
    2. Tap Done .
    Record video Record a video
    1. Tap Record video Record video and record the video.
    2. Tap Done .
    New PDF PDF
    1. Tap New PDF New PDF.
    2. Write notes or draw images on the PDF.
    3. Tap Save Save.

  5. Tap Post Post.

Note: If you see a message that you don’t have permission to attach a file, tap Copy. Classroom makes a copy to attach to your post and saves it to the class Drive folder.

Delete a post

You can only delete a post that you created.

If you delete a post that you created, all the comments associated with it are deleted as well. You can't undo this action. However, your teacher can see all deleted posts.
  1. Tap Classroom Classroom.
  2. Tap the class.
  3. On the post, tap More More and then Delete.
  4. Tap Delete to confirm.

Comment on posts

Add a class comment to a post

A teacher can delete comments. You cannot add a comment to a post if a teacher turned off permissions to post.

You can’t add pictures, links, or videos to comments. Comments are text-only.

  1. Tap Classroom Classroom.
  2. Tap the class.
  3. On the post, tap Add class comment  and then Add class comment.
  4. Enter your comment and tap Post Post.
Reply to a comment
This feature is only available in the computer version of Classroom. To see the instructions, click Computer.
Delete a comment

You can only delete a comment that you created.

  1. Tap Classroom Classroom.
  2. Tap the class.
  3. Find the post with your comment and tap number class comment.
  4. Tap the comment and then Delete.
  5. Tap Delete to confirm.

Send a private comment to your teacher

You can make a comment to your teacher that only they can see. When you’re assigned work, you can send a private comment to your teacher from the assignment or question.

My class has the Classwork page

  1. Go to classroom.google.com and click Sign In.

    Sign in with your Google Account. For example, you@yourschool.edu or you@gmail.comLearn more.

  2. Click the class and then ClassworkDon't see Classwork?
  3. Click the assignment and then View assignment.
  4. Click Add private comment, enter your comment and click Post.

My class doesn't have the Classwork page

  1. Go to classroom.google.com and click Sign In.

  2. Click the class. 
  3. Click the assignment and then View assignment.
  4. Click Add private comment, enter your comment, and click Post.
