What's happening with assignments.google.com?

The current Assignments standalone website, which does not integrate with your LMS, will no longer be supported or available to use effective January 15, 2021.

If you want to continue to use features of Assignments to distribute files, check for plagiarism, and collect and grade student work, there are 2 options:

  1. If you use an LMS (such as Canvas, Schoology, or Moodle), Assignments is available as an add-on application to your LMS for an integrated experience. Learn more about how Assignments works with Canvas, Schoology, and other LMSs. You might need to ask your LMS admin to enable Assignments in your LMS.
  2. If you use Google Classroom instead of an LMS, we encourage you to continue using Classroom. Assignments is designed for educators who are not using Classroom, but want the benefits of shared docs, rubrics, and originality reports available from within their LMS. In Classroom, you'll find all the features from Assignments available to you when assigning and grading student work.

If you use Assignments integrated with your LMS, you can reuse rubrics and continue to use any saved comments in your comment bank when grading. Your previous assignments and submissions will continue to be available to view at assignments.google.com/ca.

If you use Classroom, any saved comments in your Assignments comment bank will also be available in your Classroom comment bank. However, in Classroom, you will not be able to reuse rubrics you created in Assignments.

Files in your Google Drive will not be affected. The files will still be available after the Assignments standalone website is deprecated on January 15, 2021.
