How do I add city and county boundaries for an entire state to Google Earth Pro?

In a previous job I added files to Google Earth pro and it automatically loaded all city and county boundaries in the State of Utah to the map every time I opened Google Earth Pro. And when I would click anywhere on the map within the state it would tell me which jurisdiction that location was in.
I am at a new job and trying to figure out how to get that same kind of functionality into Google Earth Pro.
All I did was drag and drop files onto Google Earth. Does anyone know what this is/how to do this?

Hi Alison,

There are some kml files here which may help:

Otherwise I'd suggest doing a web search for Utah kml. kml is the Google Earth file format.  You may find something here: https://gis.utah.gov/. Shape files can be opened in Google Earth, go to File - Open and select the file type ESRI *.shp.

Thank you! I'm needing this info for multiple states now. I will do some more searching.

Do you know if this adds the functionality of being able to click anywhere in the map and having the jurisdiction pull up?

I haven't really looked at them in detail, you'd need to try and see if they meet your needs. If they don't try searching some more and specify what you are looking for.
