You can make video or audio calls to anyone in your contacts. Learn how you can find and add people to call.
All calls, including international ones, are made through your mobile data plan or a Wi-Fi connection, so you won't use your mobile minutes. If you use your mobile data, charges may apply.

When you use Duo for web on your computer you don't need to have your phone turned on or nearby. If you make calls from your computer, Duo won't use your mobile data. Learn how to set up Duo for web.
Start a new video or audio call
To make a call on Duo for web:
- On your computer, go to duo.google.com. If you’re new to Google Duo, learn how to set it up.
- Select a contact.
- Click Start call.
- Choose Video
or Voice
.
- When you're done, click End call
.
To make a call on a Chromebook:
- If you don't already have Duo on your Chromebook, install and set up the Duo app.
- In the corner of your screen, select the Launcher

- Open Duo.
- Choose Video
or Audio
.
- Select a contact.
- When you're done, select End call

Make group video calls
Start a group call
- On your computer, go to duo.google.com.
- On the left, click Create group.
- Click Add people and select your contacts.
- On the right, click Add
Start.
Share a link to start a group call
- On your computer, go to duo.google.com.
- Click Create group link.
- Name your group and click Save.
- To start the call, click Start.
- At the top, to share the link or add contacts, click Share
.
- If the recipient clicks the link on a computer, it opens duo.google.com.
- If the recipient taps the link on mobile and has Duo installed, the link opens Duo.
- If the recipient taps the link on mobile and Duo isn’t installed, the link opens Duo on the Play Store or App Store.
Leave a group
- On your computer, go to duo.google.com.
- Under "Groups," click a group.
- In the upper right, click More
Leave group.
If you're invited to a group that includes people you have blocked, or if any members of the group aren't in your contacts, Duo will mark the group as suspicious. Duo won't give you any information about group members you have blocked.
You can join or decline the group call. If you join the group call, Duo won't unblock people you have blocked.
Make calls from other apps
Call from Messages for web
- On your computer, go to messages.google.com.
- On the left, select a Messages conversation or click Start chat.
- Click Video call
.
- When you're done, click End call
