Use a bulksheet to set min and max bids

Minimum bid and maximum bid determine the lowest and highest amounts that a DS bid strategy will set for max CPC. The DS bid strategy will never set bids that are outside of the constraints you specify.

By default, a keyword or product group in a bid strategy inherits the min bid and max bid settings from the bid strategy. To use a bulksheet to override these limits for specific biddable items:

  1. Download an Editable columns (for re-upload) report that contains the biddable items you want to override. For example:
    1. Navigate to a bid strategy and click the Keywords or Product groups tab.

Steps for navigating to a bid strategy
      1. Navigate to an advertiser.

      2. In the left navigation panel, click Bid strategies.

      3. Click a bid strategy name from the reporting table.
Alternatively, you can do the following:

        1. Click the more icon Expander (or more) icon at the end of the navigation bar to display navigation options.

        2. In the Agency list, click on the agency that contains the bid strategy. You can search for an agency by name or scroll through the list.

        3. In the Advertiser list, click on the advertiser that contains the bid strategy.

        4. In the Bid strategy list, click on the bid strategy.

        5. Click Apply or press the Enter key.

DoubleClick Search displays the bid strategy page.

    2. In the reporting table, select the check box next to each biddable item you want to override.

    3. Click the download icon  Download icon in the toolbar above the reporting table.

    4. Leave the Columns list set to the default Editable columns (for re-upload).

    5. In the Include types list, leave Keywords and/or Product groups selected.

    6. Click Download.

    7. After DS finishes generating the download, click the Download now link that appears above the reporting table.

  2. Open the downloaded spreadsheet and do one the following in both the Min bid and Max bid columns for each biddable item you want to update:

    • Enter a new min bid and max bid.
If the biddable item is currently inheriting the setting from the ad group, the columns contain (inherited) when you open the bulksheet. If you enter a new min and max bid, the biddable item will override the bid strategy's min and max bids.

    • To inherit the bid strategy's min and max bids, enter (inherited) or remove_content.

Note that either both min and max settings need to override the bid strategy's settings, or both need to inherit from the bid strategy. You cannot inherit min bid and override max bid.

DS ignores any changes you make in the Effective min bid and Effective max bid columns. These columns are read only, and they display the setting that is currently in effect for the biddable item.

DS does not display validation errors if you accidentally edit the effective-value columns.

  3. Upload the bulksheet.
