Before you begin ...

Restrictions for domain locking

The following top-level domains (TLDs or domain endings) do not support domain locking:

  • .CO.NZ
  • .CO.UK
  • .IO

To lock or unlock your domain, do the following:

  1. Click My domains in the navbar and then click the domain name.
  2. Click the the Settings tab Settings (gear icon) and scroll down to the Domain lock section.
  3. Click the toggle button, Lock domain / Unlock domain, to change the lock setting.

About domain locking

Domain locking is an added security precaution that prevents unauthorized transfers. Your domain is locked by default.

While your domain is locked, you can still update your contact information and make other changes to your domain settings. However, if you want to transfer your domain, you will need to unlock it.
