Google has closed an agreement for Squarespace, Inc. to acquire all domain name registrations from Google Domains. Squarespace is the registrar of record for your domain and the Squarespace’s Terms of Service apply; however Google will manage your domain during a transition period. Following a transition period your domain will be transitioned to Squarespace, and upon transfer, your data will be governed by Squarespace’s Privacy PolicyLearn more about the agreement.

Host a Firebase project on your domain

After you buy a domain, you can create and connect a Firebase project to support your mobile app, web app, or static site.

  • Up or down scalability, depending on visitor usage

Create a Firebase project on your domain

  1. On your computer, open Google Domains.
  2. Sign in with the Google Account you used to buy your domain.
  3. Click the domain name you want to manage.
  4. Open the Menu Menu.
  5. Click Website and then Build website.
  6. Under “Static hosting Powered by Firebase,” click Continue and then Start with Firebase.
  7. If you have multiple Google Accounts, select the account you used to buy your domain.
  8. Click Add project.
  9. Follow the instructions on Firebase.

Connect your Firebase project to your domain

  1. On the Firebase menu, select Hosting and then Get started.
  2. On the Hosting overview page, click Add custom domain.
  3. Enter the domain name you want to use. If you enter the correct root domain or subdomain, for example, www.example.com or app.example.com, the domain will be verified.
  4. Under “Value,” copy the IP addresses of both A records.
  5. Go to Google Domains.
  6. Click Menu and then DNS and then Custom resource records and then Add.
  7. Enter both IP addresses copied from Firebase.
    • To add multiple IP addresses to an A record, click Add more to this record.
  8. Return to Firebase.
  9. Click Finish.

Tip: Updates may take up to 48 hours to take effect. If the domain URL doesn’t load after 48 hours, contact Firebase support.
