Fix connecting your domain to Google Sites

If you get an error message about an issue connecting your domain to your site, after it’s registered, try these steps to connect your site.

Domains purchased on Google Sites

Step 1: Share your domain with a Google Sites owner

  1. Sign in to Google Domains.
  2. Select the name of your domain.
  3. Click Menu Menu.
  4. Click Registration settings.
  5. Under "Domain permissions," click Add user.
  6. Enter the email address.
  7. Confirm you added the user.

Step 2: Sign in as the sites owner

  1. On the top right, select your profile image or initial.
  2. Select or add the email address of the account from step 1.

Step 3: Connect with Google Sites

  1. Click the domain name you want to manage.
  2. Click Menu Menu.
  3. Click Website and then Build website.
  4. Under "Simple site," click Continue.
  5. Click Use existing site.
  6. Enter the subdomain you want to use.
  7. Select the Google Site you want connected to your domain.
    • If you only want to connect the full site name that starts with "www," uncheck the option to redirect the entire root domain to your Google Site.
  8. Click Connect site.
