Is there a limit to how many words my Personal Dictionary can store?

Given the nature of a very long text I'm writing, I need to add a huge amount of names and words to my personal dictionary (in Spanish). I'm pretty certain I've added some words that are underlined red again, I was wondering whether this is a bug or there's a limit to how many personal words you can keep.

Hi, Guadalupe,

If there is a limit to the number of entries in the personal dictionary, I don't know what that is. If your words are still being flagged, my guess is that they aren't in the personal dictionary yet.

I agree with my friend Jo. I'd suspect if there is a limit it's pretty huge. Might some of your words sometimes be capitalised and at other times not? I don't think its clever enough to realise it's the same word.
In addition to what my friend Gill said, the personal dictionary doesn't recognize capitalizations, so there's no use capitalizing any of your words in it.

If words are not in my personal dictionary yet, there has to be a bug, because this happens AFTER the confirmation message saying the words were added to my personal dictionary appears. They are just ok for a couple of weeks and then flagged again for no apparent reason.
Mind that it's a huge set of words, since I'm writing speculative fiction about other worlds. Many of them are names, so they're consistently capitalized. A handful aren't (alien animals and plants), I choose non-capitalized occurrencies to add them.

Hi, Guadalupe,

As we don't know what the word limit is in the personal dictionary, it's possible you have exceeded it. This also could be happening for other reasons.

Please answer the following questions:

  • Which operating system are you using?
  • Which device are you using?
  • Which browser (and browser version number) are you using?
  • How long is your current document?

Windows 10, Chrome  87.0.4280.66 (Build oficial) (64 bits), there are many smaller documents (about 160 documents spanning six years up to today, each of them 1000-3000 words) plus two larger ones, one c. 100k words and the other one (updated right now) c. 120k.
Thank you, Guadalupe. Google Docs has a size limit for files. The average page of text contains about 3,000 characters. If you have a 100,000+ word document, you have vastly exceeded the limit of 1.02 million characters. That may be why your document isn't working properly. In addition, all the changes you've made over time that are stored in the document's history are bloating it even further.

There are a few things I would recommend. First, make a copy of each of your long documents to clear out version history. Second, I strongly recommend that you break your large documents into four or more smaller files. To do that, create four or more new documents and copy/paste portions of your oversized document into them and work with the smaller files from now on. Not only will that help preserve the integrity of the documents but it also might help with the problem you're having with the words in your personal dictionary still getting flagged.

One more thing, clear the cache in Chrome to the beginning of time and then reboot your device.
