images are white boxes. What is causing this and how do i fix it?

So for years now, whenever i try and paste and image into docs, it will appear as a white box taking up space. I have heard about a recent outage but my problem has been occuring way before that so that isn't the problem. This needs to be fixed as I often use images in my work. Thanks.

Thanks for the update 😀

Could you share which Internet browser is used?

In the meantime try clearing the Internet browsers cookies and cache: https://kb.iu.edu/d/ahic

You may also try turning off extensions: https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001411.htm

Looking forward to hearing and update and assisting further as needed.

Greetings and Welcome to Google Docs Help Community 😀

If the image is copied from an off-line program it will display as thought the image is missing. This happens because the imagine needs to be stored on-line for a doc's editor to access the image. If you can insert the image by uploading it to Google Docs from the local drive it should display properly.

Hi,

I experienced a similar problem recently and luckily found the solution. Note: I am using the SlimJet browser, which is based on Chromium, like Google Chrome.

I went into my browser's settings. As an additional layer of security, Slimjet has an option to prevent Canvas Fingerprinting (see https://www.slimjet.com/en/webhelp/prevent-canvas-fingerprinting.htm), which I had enabled. As it turns out, this was causing the problem of images not displaying in Google Sheets and in some other sites. When I disable prevention of Canvas Fingerprinting or when I add domain name exceptions (eg. docs.google.com), the images show up again.

Best regards,
Guido/Computaal

It isn't unusual for browser extensions to cause issues such as this.
I personally turn my extensions on and off as needed.
