Edits that are not captured in edit history

When typing a new paragraph in an existing document and make corrections as I type for spelling and other errors do those corrections create entries in edit history?  Or are the only edits captured in edit history changes to a previously created part of the document?

Great,

That helps to see the history, and i did some of my own testing...

In my testing, i types 3 words, then waited a few seconds, then deleted them and typed in 3 new words...
The first 3 words did not show in history.

Then i did a new test, again typing 3 words, then waiting 1 minute, then deleting them and typing in 3 new words.
The first 3 words showed up as being deleted, with strikethrough and highlighted blue, with the new text appearing below (even though it was typed into the same postion of as the first 3 words.

This may be due to being a "new paragraph" rather than an edit within a paragraph.

Heres a screenshot:

When i check your file version history i can see some words were overwritten.

Your edits show "in-line" before the new text.

Hi Geoffrey Love,

The edit history saves intermittently, and does not save every keystroke as a separate edit.

If you type a single letter, and wait for the edit to be save, then you can wait a few minutes, and reload the document then check the edit history to see what has been saved as that uploaded edit.

The edit history does not discriminate where the edit was done in the document. It doesn't matter where you type, an edit is an edit.

Hi

"It is now 7:20 am on May 9 and I am testing to see if a starting time is created after not using the document overnight.  I will also make corrections as I type to see if these are reflected as edits in the document. Continuing to make changes and edits for the test. Will stop at 7:22"

I made a number of changes as I typed the above piece and when I stopped and checked edit history none of them were shown as edits.  is there another way to see edits.

In my testing, i typed two words, then checked version history and the edit was listed, then i typed two more words, and that also showed grouped with the first edit in the version history. o i have 3 entries in the version history (because the first is the blank file before i renamed it).

Can you provide a screenshot of the version history with all the down-arrows (if there are any) opened up to show all the edits.

Can you provide a link to the sample file?

Or create a new document (with type some added) that you can share.

Hi Mr Shane
Thank you so much for your help.  My question focuses on your first two words, if you make changes to them before going the edit history would those changes be captured as edits in edit history.  Please see attached document, need to figure out how to do that, may send a screen shot next.  While typing the last section I made numerous changes and corrections, then went to edit history and none of those changes were reflected.  I then made changes to sections that were done previously with their own edit history ending time stamp and those changes are show as edits.  Many thanks Geoff
