Add stock media & generated images in Google Vids (Workspace Labs)

Important: This article refers to Google Workspace Labs, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI Features. To check if you have access to Workspace Labs features, open Google Vids. A window to help you start creating in Vids will appear if you have access. Learn where you can use Workspace Labs features.

Add stock videos, images, music, sound effects, stickers & GIFs to a video

To add stock videos, images, music, sound effects, stickers and GIFs to a video:

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. In the sidebar, click Stock media , or select Insert and then Stock media .
  3. Search for relevant content by entering a description of what you’re looking for, and searching across all stock media or searching for a specific media type:
    • To search across all stock media, type your selection in the search bar and keep the type set to “All.”
    • To filter by type, click All and select the media type from the drop down menu, and type your selection in the search bar.
    • Tips:
      • To preview stock videos before insertion, hover your mouse over the selection.
      • To preview stock music or sound effects before insertion, click Play .
  4. To add it to the canvas, click on the item.
  5. Customize the location of the item you’ve added:
    • Resize: To make the item bigger or smaller, select the video, image, GIF, or sticker and adjust from the corner.
    • Move: Select the item, then drag to the desired location.
    • Tips:
      • Audio clips will insert wherever the playhead is currently located.
      • Stock videos, images, web images, GIFs, and stickers appear at the beginning of the scene and can be customized with object tracks. Learn more about controlling timing and transitions with object tracks.
Stock images, video and audio can be used for personal, education or commercial purposes and must be used in accordance with our abuse program policies and our Google Workspace Acceptable Use Policy. Stock content is made available for use in Vids as part of creating a video. Stock content cannot be publicly displayed and distributed on a standalone basis. Stock content may not be offered for sale or used within templates provided to third parties. Stock content may not be incorporated into a logo, corporate ID, trademark, or service mark. You may not use stock content featuring a person in an unflattering or unduly controversial way.

Create images with Gemini based on prompts

In Google Vids, you can use the “Create image with Gemini” feature to create images using artificial intelligence. For example, you can ask Gemini to create an image of a picnic or an abstract painting.

  1. Open your computer, open a video in Google Vids
  2. On the right side of your canvas, click Create image with Gemini ​​. Creating an image can generate original images that you can then insert into a scene.
  3. In the panel on the right, enter a prompt. For example:
    1. “A beautiful photograph of a Hawaiian beach at sunset with palm trees in the distance”
    2. “A plate of freshly baked blueberry muffins on a wooden kitchen table next to a large window”
    3. “Watercolor painting of hydrangeas in a water pitcher”
    4. “A futuristic cityscape with skyscrapers and flying cars set at night with HD details and shadows”
  4. (Optional) You can click Add a style to customize the image you create.
  5. Click Create to see several suggested images.
  6. (Optional) After clicking Create, you can:(Optional): To send feedback about the image, click Good suggestion or Bad suggestion .
  7. To insert a specific image, hover over the image and click on it to Insert .
  8. You can also:
    1. Edit the prompt: Click Edit Prompt .
    2. Generate more images: At the bottom, click Show more .

Prompt Tips:

  • For better results, consider including the subject, setting, distance to subject, materials, or background. For example: "A close up of a boat made out of wood on a lake surrounded by trees at sunrise."
  • Avoid figurative language in your prompt.

  • Workspace Labs generated images are designed to bring your imagination to life in Google Vids, and may not represent real world situations.

Important: To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Labs.
