Customize video, audio, and image formatting in Vids (Workspace Labs)

Important: This article refers to Google Workspace Labs, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI Features. To check if you have access to Workspace Labs features, open Google Vids. A window to help you start creating in Vids will appear if you have access. Learn where you can use Workspace Labs features.

Adjust video clip formatting

You can customize the formatting of a video clip playback including timing, volume, transitions, position, and more:

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Open a scene in the timeline and then right-click on any video clip on your canvas. Or, click on the video clip to open the toolbar to customize:
    • Animation to add an animation to your video clip
    • Sound 
    • Playback options  to adjust start and end times and add looping
    • Format options to adjust:
      • Size & rotation
      • Position
      • Drop shadow
      • Alt text

Adjust audio formatting

You can customize the formatting of an audio clip playback including volume and audio transition:

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Open a scene in the timeline and then right-click on any audio track below your canvas.
  3. Select Sound  to open the Sound side panel and adjust:
    • Sound
    • Audio transition

Tip: You can also customize the timing of audio tracks by dragging the track to left or right.

Adjust image formatting

You can customize the formatting of an image including size & rotation, position, drop shadow, and more::

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Open a scene in the timeline and then right-click on any image on the canvas. Or, click on the image to open the floating toolbar to customize:
    • Remove background
    • Animation
    • Format options to open the “Format options panel” and adjust:
      • Size & rotation
      • Position
      • Recolor
      • Adjustments
      • Drop shadow
      • Alt text

Important: To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Labs.
