View live pointers on Google Slides

If you are in a presentation at the same time as others, you can view collaborators’ pointers as they move around a slide. You can also choose to show or hide your pointer.

Important: You can only find or show live pointers if you’re using Google Slides on a computer. You can only show your pointer if you have edit access to the presentation.

Show or hide your pointer

If your pointer is visible to others, you will find Your pointer is visible to others on the right side of the toolbar. If your pointer is hidden from others, you will find Your pointer is hidden on the right side of the toolbar.

Important: Once pointer visibility is turned on, your pointer will remain visible in all Slides until you turn it off. You can only show your pointer if you have edit access to the presentation, but all access levels can view pointers.

To show your pointer:

  1. On your computer, open a Google Slides presentation.
  2. At the top, click View and then Live pointers Live pointers and then tick Show my pointer.
    • Or, on the right of the toolbar, click Your pointer is hidden .

To hide your pointer:

  1. On your computer, open a Google Slides presentation.
  2. At the top, click View and then Live pointers Live pointers and then untick Show my pointer.
    • Or, on the right of the toolbar, click Your pointer is visible to others .

By default, you will find collaborators’ live pointers in the presentation.

To hide their live pointers:

Learn how to fix issues with live pointers

You might not be able to view live pointers if:

  • No other collaborators are in the presentation: Add a collaborator and grant them edit access in Slides.
  • Collaborators don’t have edit access: Grant edit access to your collaborators.
  • More than 20 collaborators are in the presentation: Remove edit access from some collaborators.
