Third-party video VAST tags

When you use an ad server other than Display & Video 360 or Campaign Manager 360 to host your video creatives, you can add them to Display & Video 360 using VAST (Video Ad Serving Template) tags. Display & Video 360 supports VAST 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 tags. After you add tags to Display & Video 360, they’re automatically wrapped with an impression tracking macro and a click tracking macro. With these macros, you can view the number of impressions, click, and conversions associated with the creative in Display & Video 360.

Display & Video 360 also supports third-party audio VAST tags.

Add a third-party video VAST tag

Follow these steps to upload one tag. If you need to upload more than one tag, save time with bulk upload.

  1. Open an advertiser, then click Creatives in the left menu.

  2. On the page that loads, click New.

  3. Click Third party and then Third-party video.

  4. Enter a name for the creative.

  5. Enter the VAST tag URL.

  6. (Optional) Click Additional details to add an integration code or notes.

  7. Save your creative.

After you save, it’ll take a few minutes for Display & Video 360 to process the video and detect the duration, whether it has a skip button, supported video technologies, and whether it has companions. When processing is complete, you can preview your video.

Once a creative has been added to Display & Video 360, the creative will be manually and automatically reviewed to ensure the creative functions correctly and is compliant with the creative policies of both Display & Video 360 and any inventory sources that have explicit creative requirements. You’ll see information about the creative’s review status in the Creative status tab of the creative. Learn more about the creative review process.
