Advertiser verification

To provide a safe and trustworthy ad ecosystem for users, Display & Video 360 advertisers can provide basic information about their identity to Google. Once Google verifies the advertiser's identity, an ad disclosure that shows the advertiser's name and location will be included on any ads the advertiser runs. By providing transparency about who our advertisers are and where they are located, we elevate user trust and confidence in Google’s products and services, and empower users to make informed decisions about the ads they see online.

How Google uses your information

Google will use the information you provide to:

  1. Verify your identity and/or your business operations
  2. Show a disclosure including your name, or the name of the business you represent, and location, linked from any ads you run

As Google expands its transparency efforts, we will make information about your Display & Video 360 accounts and ad campaigns publicly available including:

  • Advertiser name change history
  • Ad creatives
  • Dates and locations ads served
  • Ads removed or accounts suspended for legal or policy reasons
  • Business contact information

Verification process

Display & Video 360 partner admins are notified in-account when advertisers in their partner account have been selected to undergo the advertiser verification program.

The selected advertisers will have 30 days to initiate the verification and another 30 days to complete it. Failure to complete or meet the verification requirements within the specified time period will result in the advertiser’s account being paused. Partner admins will be able to view which advertisers require verification and the associated deadline to complete it in the Policy Center page in Partner Settings.

The verification process can also be proactively initiated by Display & Video 360 partner admins. The partner admins may choose any unverified advertisers in their partner account to begin verification. Click Start Verifying in the advertiser verification card, located on the Policy Center page in Partner Settings. There are no deadlines and no adverse consequences to the advertiser for failing to meet the verification requirements if the verification process was proactively initiated by the admin.

Steps to complete verification

The partner admin or the advertiser will follow the verification link, where they will log in with their Google account.

Step 1: Follow the in-product notification

The partner admin clicks on ‘Get started’ on the notification to start verification received in-account. They will be brought to the verification card on the Policy Center page in Partner Settings. Read through the information about the advertiser verification program and click “Start verifying” to start the process.

Step 2: Select unverified account(s) for verification

The partner admin selects the unverified account(s) that are associated with a single advertiser or brand. They may select multiple accounts but they will need to ensure that all the selected accounts are associated with the same end advertiser at one time.

If they self-advertise and pay for their own ads, the admin follows the verification link to continue the process.

If they are an agency and pay for their client’s ads, the admin will share the verification link with the advertiser for the advertiser to verify themselves.

The partner admin or the advertiser will follow the verification link, where they will log in with their Google account.

Step 3: Select or create a payments profile

This profile represents your organization’s identity as an advertiser. It won’t alter your account, billing, or payments in any way.

Step 4: Provide information about your organization’s name and location

You may be required to provide a document which verifies your name and location. See what documents are acceptable

You may be prompted to provide your organization's D-U-N-S number to verify your organization’s legal identity. If your organization doesn't have a D-U-N-S number, you can apply for one here or choose to submit your organization name and address instead.

We will lookup your organization information registered with Dun & Bradstreet with your D-U-N-S number and match it with the information which you have provided for verification. If we don’t have a match, make sure to check the information provided is accurate and re-submit your information up to 3 times. You may still be asked to submit identity documents for your organization as listed above to complete the verification process.

Requirements for advertiser name

The advertiser name is the legal name, trade name, or "doing business as" (DBA) name of the advertiser, verified by Google through the advertiser verification program.

For agencies, the name must be the legal, trade, or DBA name of the advertiser you are representing.

The advertiser name will be displayed within the ‘About this advertiser’ disclosure. Learn more.

Verifying an advertiser name

  • To verify a legal name, the legal name must match the legal name on any registration documents submitted during the verification program.
  • To verify a trade or DBA name, the trade or DBA name must match and be on the same registration document submitted during the verification program along with the legal name. Acceptable documents by location are listed here.

Considerations

The following is not allowed:

Not supported Inaccurate names or product names that do not match the legal, trade, or DBA name of the advertiser on any registration documents submitted during the verification program.

Not supported Capitalization, promotional language, or domains, unless they are part of a valid legal, trade, or DBA name.

Not supported Special characters such as emojis, opening hours, product or service information, or phone numbers.

Once you’ve submitted the verification form, Google will email you our decision, usually within 3-5 business days.

Status of advertiser verification

Visit the Policy Center in Partner Settings to see the status of advertiser verification. For partner admins, you'll see which advertisers remain unverified, which require verification (and the associated deadline to complete it), which are in progress, and which have completed verification. You can continue verifying any unverified advertisers from this page.
