Add or edit an Ad Exchange channel

Channels are inventory labels intended to help you more easily report on portions of your inventory.

  1. Click the Rules tab.
  2. Click Channels in the sidebar.
If you're accessing this feature from DFP instead of Ad Exchange, select Inventory and then Ad Exchange rules and then Channels.
  3. Select the appropriate syndication type sub-tab (for example, Display)
  4. Click New [syndication type] channel. The “New channel” prompt window opens.
  5. Enter a meaningful name that clearly represents your channel.
  6. To select and manage specific targeting and inventory that you want to report on, click Tags, DFP: Ad units, DFP: Placements, URLs, Geography, Inventory Sizes, DFP: Key-values, Operating systems, or Device categories. For mobile in-app, you can select DFP: Mobile apps instead of URLs. For video, you can also select Durations and Positions.
  7. Decide which inventory to include or exclude in your targeting.
    • To add your selections to the “Selected targeting criteria” scroll box to the right of the selection area, click include.
      • The selected inventory appears under "Selected targeting criteria".
      • The "include" link turns grey and now reads included
    • To add your selections to the “Selected targeting criteria” scroll box to the right of the selection area that you want to not include in your targeting, click exclude.
      • The selected inventory appears under "Selected targeting criteria" prefaced with a light-red "not."
      • The "exclude" link turns grey and now reads excluded.
    • If you decide to remove a selection, click on the X located to the right of the selection.
  8. Click Save. A channel ID (e.g., 2947610606) is automatically assigned to the channel.

To edit, from the “Channels” list page, click the placement name. All fields are available for update. From the “Channels” list page, you can delete a channel. Click the X to the right of the channel. To reactivate the channel, click the undo arrow.
