Google Arts & Culture Content Guidelines
Google Arts & Culture helps preserve and promote arts and culture online. It is a platform for cultural institutions to create their own collections and exhibits to tell the stories of our diverse cultural heritage to make them accessible worldwide.
Curators of the partner organizations are solely responsible to upload, organize, curate and present their stories on the platform. We encourage curators to upload, organize and curate assets that make the most of the tools and technologies that the platform offers (for example, using images of artworks in high-resolution to let users zoom-in into the details).
Content guidelines help us maintain a positive experience for our users and prevent abuse. Please respect these guidelines, as we may remove content that violates them. We may update these guidelines from time to time, so please check back occasionally.
We don't permit the usage of dangerous or derogatory content. For this reason, Google Arts & Culture will not include content that:
- Threatens or advocates for harm on oneself or others;
- Harasses, intimidates or bullies an individual or group of individuals;
- Incites hatred against, promotes discrimination of, or disparages an individual or group on the basis of their race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, age, nationality, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or other characteristic that is associated with systemic discrimination or marginalization.
Violent, Harmful or Dangerous Content
Graphic or gratuitous violent, harmful or dangerous content intended only to shock users is not permitted.
Contents that may incite others to commit acts of violence are strictly prohibited from Google Arts & Culture. If your content asks others to commit an act of violence or threatens people with serious acts of violence, it will be removed from the site.
Sexually Explicit Content
Sexually explicit content like pornography is not allowed. Remember that providing context in the title and description will help us and your viewers determine the primary purpose of the content.
Spam, deceptive practices, and scams
Google Arts & Culture is not a place to distribute spam, or to engage in illegal activities or promote dangerous and illegal acts. Finally, accessing another user’s account without their permission is not permitted.
As a non-commercial initiative, the Google Arts & Culture platform should not be used for any commercial activity, or as a fundraising platform. Partners and curators may only link to publicly available social media profiles, their own homepage, or the home or other relevant page of their employer or affiliated institution. Call outs for commercial ventures, donations, fundraising etc can be managed on these external sites.
