Prepare a metadata file (Art Project)

The Art Project CSV format is now deprecated, and as of September 15, 2018 uploads of this format will cease to be available.

You should be using the Art Schema instead, as outlined in our documentation. You can export your existing Art Project CSV data in the new format in the CMS by following the directions here.

Art Project Specification

One way to provide information to the Art Project is through two properly formatted spreadsheets. This approach requires the creation and upload of two separate files:

  • Object Metadata file
  • Object Resource file

First fill-out the metadata file to provide metadata for each item in your collection. Then fill-out the resource file to provide information about the media assets and other resources related to each item defined in the metadata file.

Use this format only if advised to do so by your contact at the Google Cultural Institute.

Templates & Examples

To help get you started, below are templates and prefilled examples of Object Metadata and Object Resource files. These files will open in Google Sheets; if you are unfamiliar with Google Sheets, learn how to make copy of the files and begin entering your own data.

Object Resource file (blank)
Examples Object Metadata file (filled with sample data)
