Open the Mobile Application page to get started.
If you have not yet created a mobile app, you will follow a two-step process to provide all the essential information needed to generate the app file. This information can be changed later if needed.
Name & subtitle- Name: displayed within the app as well as beneath the app's launcher icon on the device's "Home" or "All Apps" screen
- Short name: displayed if the full app name is too long to display in certain circumstances. The option to add a short name only appears if the full name might become truncated due to its length
- Subtitle: shown beneath the app name on the app's home screen
You can control the appearance of your app in one of two ways.
Use a predefined theme
Select from one of the available themes. The thumbnails indicate the color and style of the images and icon that will be used in the app.
No additional control of the app's appearance or graphics is possible. This option is ideal for quickly testing the app functionality before preparing tailored branding graphics.
Upload your own graphics
Customize the app's logo, banner and launcher icon to add your brand. If using this option you must upload graphics files for all three and ensure they meet the requirements for app graphics.
The graphics are used as follows:
- Logo: placed in a prominent position on your app's home screen, partially floating above the banner
- Banner: included at the top of the app's home screen before all other content
- Launcher icon: the icon for the app that will be seen in the user's "All Apps" screen or on their "Home" screen
An ID will be generated automatically based on the app name provided. We recommend using the ID provided unless you have specific reason to change it. The ID given to your app must be unique.
If you change the ID, Google Play will then consider it a different app and users of the previous version will not be able to update to the new version.
Similarly, if you have installed the app directly on a device (not via Google Play), the device will consider it a new app instead of updating the version already installed.
Provide visitor information so that app users can easily locate or contact your institution, or find more information on your website.
An address, phone number, opening hours and up to three URLs may be provided. This information is displayed under the "Info" menu within the app.
Providing visitor information is optional.
Click Finish to complete the two-step set up process, or if you are making changes to your existing app, click Save.
