Check that your devices are on the same Wi-Fi network

To confirm if your mobile device and your Google Nest or Home speaker or display are on the same Wi-Fi network, follow the steps below.

Step 1. Check the Wi-Fi network of your mobile device or tablet

  1. On your Android device, tap Settings and then open your device’s Network and Wi-Fi settings. The Wi-Fi network labeled "Connected" is the network your mobile device is connected to. Your Wi-Fi network must match the network that your speaker or display is connected to.
  2. If your Wi-Fi network doesn’t match, or if you need to change the network:
    • Tap a new network and then enter password and then Connect.
    • If you've entered the password for that network before, you just need to tap the network and your device should connect automatically.

Step 2. Check the Wi-Fi network of your speaker or display

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. At the top right corner, tap Settings  and then Device information and then Wi-Fi.

If your mobile phone or tablet's Wi-Fi network doesn't match the speaker or display's Wi-Fi network, learn how to change the Wi-Fi network of your speaker or display.
