Why is my cursor not showing up when I turn on my computer?

When I turn my computer on the cursor will not show up and I can't select anything. I have restarted it multiple times but it still does not work.

Hi Bon,

Please see if a quick Hardware Reset fixes this.

It did fix it temporarily but it eventually disappears again and turning it off a few times gets it to show up again. Also when I plug in a mouse the cursor comes back so I think the trackpad is not working. This is also my school laptop and some of my classmates are having similar trackpad issues.

Hi Bob,

You need to speak to your school's IT team about this clear hardware issue.

So I am also having this problem. Complete home laptop, daily use. Lenovo make. I've tried everything except the hard reset (I heard it causes data loss, and some things are irreplacable). This just started today, and so far I see nothing else on Customer Support to help.

Stop what you are doing and get those files backed up to Drive or external media. Now!

You should never store anything important on a Chromebook unless you also have a cop somewhere else. ChromeOS will force a Powerwash if it detects a problem, and will also delete files if you get low on space. We warn about this constantly. Search through this forum and you will find many sad stories from users who have lost many important files.

A Hardware reset should not delete files if you do it properly - that means starting with a completely powered down Chromebook.

Thank you for the message but I solved the problem it was there was something loose inside the chrome book and it just needs to get back in place.
